Brockton – Stephen Bociek, 82, of Westport, died Thursday, March 28, 2019. He was the husband of the late Nancy Bociek with whom he shared 44 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, Stephen was the son of the late Helen and Michael Bociek. He served as a dedicated firefighter for more than 33 years for the city of New Bedford.
Stephen was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
As a self taught master of all trades, Stephen could fix anything, from a wrist watch to an automobile. He loved the outdoors and nature, and especially hunting for earthen treasures. He was also a pilot who enjoyed flying airplanes. Most of all, Stephen found comfort and joy in his family and his home.
Survivors include 1 son, Neal Bociek; 5 daughters, Susan Maguire, Cathy Russo, Michelle Bociek, Kimberly Bociek and Nicole Robinson; 1 brother, Rudolph Bociek; 1 sister, Phyllis Bociek; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Stephen Bociek and brother of the late Patrick Bociek, Cecile Lysko, Harold Bociek, Claire Erickson and Andrew Bociek.
His family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers who allowed Stephen to remain in his home during his illness, especially his caregiver, Mzia.
