New Bedford – Stephen Siwik, 94, died Sunday, November 26, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of the late Margaret (Macabello) Siwik.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Alexander and Mary Ann (Gorska) Siwik, Stephen lived in the city for most of his life. He and his wife owned and operated a small greenhouse business for many years. Stephen was also a Fireman - 1st Class and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. During his service, he received the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.
Stephen was also a private pilot, and in his free time he enjoyed flying his own plane.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Stella Krisnosky, and Charles, Ronald, Edward, Theodore, and Eugene Siwik.
Visiting hours are Friday, December 1, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford, with a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
