Susan Machie Obituary
New Bedford – Susan Leigh (Wetzel) Machie, 65, of New Bedford, passed away Monday, September 9, 2019 at Care One, New Bedford.
Born in Lakewood, Ohio, January 10, 1954, the daughter of the late Robert D. and Betty M. (Moore) Wetzel, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Susan received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth and was employed as an elementary teacher in the New Bedford school system.
She was an avid reader and gardener.
She is survived by her partner, Mariano Tavares; 2 children, Alexandra Wetzel and Collin Wetzel; 1 sister, Dana Gruber and 1 brother, Dean Wetzel.
Susan’s family welcomes relatives and friends to celebrate her life at 5 – 7 P.M., Wednesday, September 18, 2019, with a service at 6:30 P.M. at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
