Theodore F. Szela

New Bedford – Theodore F. Szela, 74, died Thursday, March 14, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital.  He was the son of the late Frank and Genia (Barzikowski) Szela.
     Born and educated in New Bedford, Ted lived here all his life.  He was employed as a maintenance man for Compass Bank until his retirement.
     His great pleasure was working on cars.
     Ted was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, having attained the rank of Specialist, 4th Class Technician.
     Survivors include his close friend, Daniel Costa of New Bedford; also friends, Robert Jabotte and William Jabotte, both of Florida; 1 niece and 1 nephew.
     He was predeceased by 1 brother and 1 sister.
     Graveside services will be at 11 A.M., Thursday, March 21, 2019 in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford.  Arrangements are with Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.
