New Bedford - Ulena M. (Michalski) Chaberek, 85, died Tuesday, October14, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Eugene J. Chaberek.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Jacob and Janina (Polucha) Michalski, she lived here all her life. She was employed as a clerk for the Registry of Deeds.
Ulena was a member of the OLPH Society, the Holy Rosary Society and the PNA Lodge 536.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, playing cards, bingo, making Polish pisanki, and most of all, being with her family.
Survivors include 1 son, Stanley Chaberek and his wife, Kathryn of Acushnet; 2 daughters, Frances Pimental and her husband, Mario of Fairhaven and Jean Linhares and her companion, Rob Cornwell of New Bedford; 1 sister, Evelyn Bourque; 2 brothers, Joseph Michalski and Frank Michalski; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Marie Chaberek and sister of the late Flora Gonet and Ted Michalski.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10 A.M., Saturday, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, New Bedford, followed by burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours are 4 - 8 P.M., Friday at Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford. For condolences, please visit www.machnowskifuneral.com.
