Veronica J. Vieira

Freetown – Veronica J. Vieira, 83, died Sunday, September 25, 2022. She was the wife of the late Leonard Vieira, and the longtime companion of Normand Robitaille.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Gilbert and Olga Cordeira, she lived most of her life in the city. She worked as a machine operator at Titleist Acushnet Company for 45 years until her retirement.

Veronica was a member of the Mt. Carmel Senior Club. She was also a longtime bowler in New Bedford and Fairhaven, and especially loved cats and dogs.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Vieira and his wife Maureen of Arlington, VA; two daughters, Cathy Jo Lame and her boyfriend, Carlton “Skip” Lucas, and Rebecca Vieira and her boyfriend, John Louis Frias of New Bedford; a sister, Margaret (Cordeira) Gushue of Sarasota, FL; three grandchildren, Nevin Lame and Paige Lame of New Bedford, and Ashling Vieira and her boyfriend Jason Daly of Ireland; and five great-grandchildren, Donovin Lame, Karsyn Lame, Addison Lame, Oscar Daly and Frankie Daly.

She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia (Cordeira) Benton.

Her funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.
