Walter Machowski Obituary










New Bedford - Walter Machowski, 94, died Saturday, July 11, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital.  He was the husband of the late Emilia (Kielbasa) Machowski.

     Born in New Bedford, son of the late Jan and Sofia (Fik) Machowski, he lived here all his life.  He was employed as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement.

     Mr. Machowski was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.  He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers - Branch 18, the 40 and 8 - Voitures Whaling City Country Club, New Bedford Municipal Golf Course, and member of the former Elmwood Golf Association.

     Survivors include his daughter, Susan Souliere of New Bedford; 1 son, Walter J. Machowski of San Antonio, TX; 2 grandchildren, Christopher Machowski of San Antonio, TX and Gary Cardoza of Fairhaven; and 3 great-grandchildren; Lauren Elizabeth Cardoza, William Walter Cardoza, both of Fairhaven, and Mila Machowski, of Texas, and several nieces and nephews.

     He was the brother of the late Zygmunt Machowski.

     His funeral service and burial in MA National Cemetery were private.
