Winifred M. (Maudsley) Golas

New Bedford - Winifred M. (Maudsley)  Golas, 93, died Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Hathaway Manor.  She was the wife of the late Frederick Golas.
     Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late George and Flora (Frasier) Maudsley, she lived in Acushnet for many years.  She was employed as a bookkeeper before her retirement.  Mrs. Golas and her husband were proprietors of Fred's Hardware Store in Dartmouth.  She also worked at the Acushnet Council on Aging and JCPenney at one time.  Mrs. Golas enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and working on plastic canvas.  She also helped out at the Fairhaven Senior Center.
     She leaves 1 son, Clifford Golas; her guardian, Maureen Burke and husband, Richard of New Bedford; and her good friend, Irene Peets of Acushnet.
     Her graveside service will take place at 11 A.M., Thursday, February 9, 2017 in St. John's Cemetery, New Bedford.
