Westport – Carolyn J. (Powers) Lavoie, 78, died Thursday, April 2, 2020.  She was the loving companion of the late Bruce Rish.
     Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Robert E. and Ruth (Gosciminski) Powers, she lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven for many years. She was a homemaker.
     Carolyn enjoyed cooking, canoeing, and gardening.  She was known as the β€œCat Lady” of Fairhaven, because of all the strays that she took care of  in the neighborhood.  She especially looked forward to spending Christmas and Easter with her grandchildren.
     Survivors include 2 daughters, Robbin and Raeanne Lavoie; 2 sons, Roger and Raymond Lavoie; 1 brother, Timothy Powers; 2 sisters, Geraldine Powers and Joann Sullivan; 15 grandchilden and 19 great-grandchildren.
     She was the mother of the late Robert, Richard and Ruth Ann Lavoie, and sister of the late Kevin Powers and Robert Powers.
     Her memorial service and burial will be announced at a later date.
     Arrangements are with Machnowski Funeral Home, 472 Ashley Blvd., New Bedford.

I am so sorry for the whole family! I remember meeting her a long time ago with Kevin at Rick and Rocky's house in Swansea 40 years ago! Good people always! My Condolences to you all! Stay Safe

I love you mom and always will, I know that I will see you again,You raised a great family and grandchildren and great grandchildren. You always found good out of bad, My heart is broken from your loss. I wanted to see you just one more time but it was not meant to be.
You are now with your loved ones and watching over us all. You are in paradise as promised by our Lord.I give your family condolence and heartfelt feelings.
